After reading the union prspaools that are still on the table, I truly feel that this strike is competely unnecessary and unwarranted. What I see are a lot of We feel management will do this   We believe management will do that   where is the evidence? As far as these part-time jobs are concerned the union is counting all of the contract Continuing Education instructors that simply want to teach a class or two on their spare time.  They have NO interest in being unionized by the colleges.Has the union taken into consideration how much all these prspaools will cost the colleges?  Do they consider that it could throw many of them into yet another round of debilitating stability processes?  Where only the 20 year and up employees are safe?  How about the fact that there are still thousands of people losing their jobs every day and 20 people will apply for a dishwasher job that only lasts an hour on the job board? And we’re striking for more union time off and part time employees who don’t even pay dues and don’t actually want to be unionized in the first place? How about the staff that live paycheque to paycheque.  Can you guarantee they’ll not be on the street for the next month which will negate any benefit we gain in financial increases?  They may actually be on the street after not being able to pay their bills who’s responsible then?  Management?  I doubt it.Please smarten up.  The public is completely sick and tired of public sector unions and their pettyness .and the employees WANT TO GET BACK TO WORK for the students.
