Heather Cohen enjoys baking. In particular, she likes to make and decorate cakes.

In fact, this Owings Mills resident has decorated a number of birthday cakes for her three children, Alexa 9, Allie, 7, and Michael, 4.  This includes designing them into the shapes of a guitar, princess and iPod.

Cohen says she always bakes with her children and this apple cake is no exception. She first received this recipe from a friend and it has become the “go-to” dessert for all her holidays.

When baking her specialty, she always uses three types of apples and her children enjoy using her special apple slicer/corer/peeler.
