iNSIDER: Any memories from high school?
Lori: Just the great times I had socializing with friends, the prom, a time at Hershey Park. I loved being carefree in a time when I had no real responsibilities.
Is there any advice you would have given your high school self?
Don’t let yourself be lumped into a stereotype, be it artsy, athletic, or whatever. You can be good at anything; you just have to work at it. People in high school are so young, they don’t know what they’re capable of.
After college, what made you decide to switch fields?
This area is definitely not a good area for fashion design. It was important for me to stay in the Baltimore area because this is where my roots are: my family and friends. I was also interested in the medical field, so I decided to continue my career as a radio tech.
Do you have any hopes for the next ten years?
I would love to go to Israel with my kids because I have never been, and it’s something I’ve always wanted to do with my family. It’s something we’ll do around my kids’ bar mitzvah age.
What’s the best part of being a mom?
I just love the day-to-day things, when you wake up late on a weekend with nothing to do, and there’s just the four of us lying in bed. The kids just love to perform for us and it’s fun to watch them being crazy. It’s also fun getting to see life through their eyes.
How do you juggle work and being a mom?
Very carefully! I’m lucky because my job is the type of job where, once I leave for the day, I’m done. I can come home and have 100 percent of my time and energy devoted to my family. And that was part of my reason for choosing this careerbecause family has always been my top priority.
What ís the cutest thing your kids have done lately?
He’s intent on marrying Selena Gomez (an actress on the Disney Channel).
2011. Today, Lori Blumberg Vento is a mother of two children, a part-time radiologic tenhnologist at Sinai Hospital and a self-described “PTA Mom.”
