Joan Kram’s Brisket with a Kick
3-5 lb brisket with fat trimmed
2 tsp seasoned salt
1/4 tsp garlic powder
1 tsp salt
2 tsps Tabasco sauce
2 12-oz bottles of Heinz Chili Sauce
1 large onion, sliced
1 1/2 lbs carrots
2 -3 cups water
1. Preheat oven to 325 degrees. Place meat with the fat side down in a shallow pan. Sprinkle salt, garlic powder, seasoned salt and paprika on both sides of meat (1/2 per side).
2. Cover meat with onion. Sprinkle onion with seasoned salt. Cover meat with 2 bottles Heinz Chili Sauce. Add carrots and water to pan, making sure you don’t pour over the brisket. Cover with aluminum foil.
3. Bake for 2 1/2 to 3 hours. Use meat thermometer to test readiness.
