Registration Opens for 2012 General Assembly

August 17, 2012

The Jewish Federations of North America’s online registration for the 2012 General Assembly opened last week at generalassembly.org. The gathering, which runs from Nov. 11 to 13, will take place in Baltimore at the Convention Center on Pratt Street and at several surrounding hotels. sands.

“The GA is the largest premier North American Jewish conference,” said Linda A. Hurwitz, conference co-chair. “It’s an opportunity to hear what our challenges are and work toward improving ourselves.”

This year’s event has a fluid theme, “The 2012 JFNA General Assembly. Where the Jewish community _________.”  The idea, according to federation officials, is that participants will fill in the blank with words like “downloads,” “uploads” and “shares.”

Through a series of sessions, attendees will hear from world leaders and discuss philanthropy, business, religion and culture.

“The GA is the right place to be for people from every walk of life in the Jewish community,” said Hurwitz. “It’s the right place for federation professionals to exchange ideas and trade strategies, and volunteer leaders to inspire one another… It’s the right place for young Jewish leaders to rub shoulders with colleagues and ... mentors. It’s the right place for the Jewish community to innovate [and] problem-solve.”

In addition to registration, the GA website features an interactive, user-friendly guide to the three-day event. The extensive programming options can be easily sorted online by date, topical pathway and type of session. The site also includes a “Build My Schedule” component. Confirmed speakers will be continuously updated online. To be a GA ambassador and volunteer, visit associated. org/ga2012.
