In a tranquil, dimly-lit room at Mikvah Mei Menachem at the Shul at the Lubavitch Center in Smith-Greenspring, Rebbetzin Rochelle Kaplan revealed to visitors last Monday afternoon her plans for honoring the memory of Rabbi Gavriel and Rivkah Holtzberg, the Chabad shlichim, or emissaries, brutally murdered by Islamic terrorists last week in the Indian city of Mumbai.

Chanukah House Bash Moves Site

Unlike past years, this year’s community-wide Chanukah Celebration event, scheduled for Dec. 22, will not take place on the lawn of the celebrated “Chanukah House,” at 6211 Park Heights Ave., according to Betsy Gardner, Jewish community liaison to Mayor Sheila Dixon.

Mumbai Tragedy Hits Close to Home

A memorial service for Alan Scherr and his daughter, Naomi, both murdered by terrorists in the recent attack on India’s financial district, will be held Sunday, November 30, 7 p.m. at the Etz Chaim Center for Jewish Studies, 3702 Fords Lane.
