Internships

The Baltimore Jewish Times is always looking for quality interns who are looking to gain valuable experience in preparing for a rewarding career in Jewish and general journalism. We prefer some level of experience, whether high school or college. Our internships are primarily for print journalists, although sometimes we have an opening for a photo journalist. Knowledge of Jewish issues is strongly recommended.

Our interns are treated as staff members and expected to perform as such. We expect you to write, attend Wednesday staff meetings and contribute in the ways of any other staff member.

Specific internship duties may include:
• Reporting and research to write briefs and feature length articles.
• Fact checking articles by telephone, library, Internet, or original reference materials to ensure accuracy prior to publication.
• Clerical tasks such as Xeroxing, mailing, etc.

Before applying, familiarize yourself with our publication both online and in print.

Internships run the course of one semester and are unpaid. We encourage candidates to get academic credit for their work with us.

Fall internships run from the beginning of September through mid-December. Please apply by May 31.
Spring internships run from mid-January through mid-May. Please apply by September 30.
Summer internships run from mid-May through the end of August. Please apply by March 31.
To apply, please send cover letter, resume (including three references) and a selection of published or unpublished clips to Alan Feiler, Managing Editor, Baltimore Jewish Times, 1040 Park Avenue, Suite 200, Baltimore, MD 21201.
