Stationed in Laurel: Our Civil War Story Exhibit

The Laurel Museum, located at at 817 Main St. in Laurel, will host Stationed in Laurel: Our Civil War Story Exhibit from Feb. 3 to Dec. 22. The exhibit examines how the Civil War impacted the town. The Laurel Museum is open Wednesdays and Fridays 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. and Sundays from 1 to 4 p.m. Visits by school groups and tours over 10 people can be scheduled other days by appointment.  The Laurel Historical Society John Brennan Research Library is open Mondays by appointment. National Kidney Foundation to Offer Free Screenings

As part of NKF-MD’s mission of early detection and early intervention, kidney screenings identify early markers for high blood pressure, diabetes and kidney disease. No appointments are needed for the screening and any adult can participate. Lasting about 20 minutes, the screening includes a blood test, as well as blood pressure and weight checks. Baltimore Farmers’ Maket & Bazaar

The 36th annual Baltimore Farmers’ Market & Bazaar returns each Sunday from April 7 through Dec. 22 from 7 a.m. (approximately noon).  Sundays at the market offer a unique shopping experience for visitors by transforming under the Jones Falls Expressway into a one stop shop for fresh foods and crafts.  This year’s season brings the same great produce, meats, dairy, spices, preserves, fresh baked breads and flowers, in addition to delectable multicultural foods and handcrafted art from local artisans.  The Welcome Center and SNAP and debit card services return for the season as well.  The Baltimore Farmers’ Market & Bazaar is located on Saratoga Street between Holliday and Gay streets, underneath the Jones Falls Expressway (JFX).  Farmers, food vendors and craftspeople from the region can apply to participate in the Baltimore Farmers’ Market & Bazaar.  Applications for the 2013 market season are now online at promotionandarts.org; click on the “Events & Festivals” link.  The market takes place rain or shine. Kenilworth Farmers’ Market

The Kenilworth Farmers’ Market is open every Tuesday from May 7 to Nov. 26. It’s from 3:30- 6:30 p.m. at the Shops at Kenilworth, located at 800 Kenilworth Drive in Towson.
Come get a taste of the wide assortment of spring veggies such as leafy greens, spring onions, crunchy asparagus, and tomato plants we have this year. There is also a variety of herb plants and salad mix. National Trails Day at Irvine Nature Center

Join Irvine Nature Center for a nationwide celebration of parks, monuments and nature centers by hiking Irvine’s trails between 9 a.m. and 5 p.m. on June 1. Pikesville 5K Run/Walk

Get ready for the Pikesville 5K Run/Walk, set for July 145. Fun for the whole family. Great course, great breakfast, fabulous door prizes, and entertainment for the kids. Camp Tzedek: Little Hands Doing Big Thing

August 12 – 16, 2013/ 9:00 am – 4:00 pm

Camp Tzedek is a one-week service camp that gives elementary age children (rising 1st – 5th graders) the opportunity to explore and understand the way they can help make this world a better place. The camp is set for 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. Aug. 12 to 16 at the Rosenbloom Owings Mills JCC, located at 3506 Gwynnbrook Ave. Campers will participate in a variety of service learning projects while exploring key Jewish values in a way that is fun and makes sense to children. Greater Baltimore Walk to End Alzheimer’s

The Alzheimer’s Association Walk to End Alzheimer’s, the nation’s largest event to raise awareness and funds for Alzheimer’s care, support and research.
The all-ages, all-abilities event includes a scenic walk route, music and family entertainment, food and beverages, and information on Alzheimer’s Association programs and services, will take place at 9 a.m. Oct. 12 at Oregon Ridge Park, located at 13401 Beaver Dam Road in Cockeysville.
