Baltimore Symphony Orchestra’s Music Box Series: Life in the Water

Baltimore Symphony Orchestra’s Music Box Series: Life in the Water will take place at 11:30 a.m. June 15 at the Joseph Meyerhoff Symphony Hall, located at 1212 Cathedral Street in Baltimore.
The Music Box Series is a new concert series for the very young, aimed at babies 6 months to three years, and their families. Concerts will be highly interactive and engaging, creating a musical and movement experience and encouraging musical, motor and language development. Each concert will be thirty minutes long featuring Maria Broom, presenter, and a small ensemble of BSO musicians. Cost: $9. Contact 410-783-8000 or visit bsomusic.org

Topdog/Underdog at Everyman Theatre

Everyman Theatre continues its season of award-winning Baltimore Premieres with the opening of the 2002 Pulitzer Prize-winning drama Topdog/Underdog by Suzan-Lori Parks. The show begins at 8 p.m. April 26 at Everyman Theatre, located at 315 W. Fayette Street in Baltimore. Topdog/Underdog runs through May 19, offering performances Wednesday through Sunday, with selected Tuesday evening performances.  Single tickets for Topdog/Underdog are now on-sale and range in price from $10 – $60. Fells Point Corner Theater Presents Glengarry Glen Ross

Opening on May 10, Fells Point Corner Theater will be presenting David Mamet’s scalding comedy Glengarry Glen Ross. The play runs through June 9 at 251 South Ann Street in Baltimore. Performances are at 8 p.m. Fridays and Saturdays and 2 p.m. Sundays. There will be two “Cheap Seat Thursday” performances on May 23 and May 30 at 8 p.m. Admission:  Fridays and Saturdays - $17,  Sunday Matinées - $15,  Cheap Seat Thursdays - $12. Pumpkin Theatre Presents Lilly’s Purple Plastic Purse

Pumpkin Theatre continues its 45th Anniversary Season “A Celebration of Imagination” with Lilly’s Purple Plastic Purse.  Based on the children’s book series by Kevin Henkes, this story is about a mouse named Lilly who loves everything about school, especially her cool teacher, Mr. Slinger. But when Lilly brings her purple plastic purse and its treasures to school and can’t wait until sharing time, Mr. Slinger confiscates her prized possession. Lilly’s fury leads to revenge and then to remorse and she sets out to make amends.  Performances take place on May 11, 12, 18 and 19 at 1 and 3 p.m. at St. Timothy’s School, located at 8400 Greenspring Avenue in Pikesville. CABARET!, an Evening of Music, Songs and Laughter

The Columbia Center for Theatrical Arts (CCTA) will host CABARET!, an Evening of Music, Songs and Laughter on May 20, featuring members of The Capitol Steps and with performances by CCTA students and alumni. The event will be held at Toby’s Dinner Theatre-Columbia, located at 5900 Symphony Woods Road in Columbia, beginning at 5:30pm with cocktails, dinner and a silent auction.  The performance begins at 7:30 p.m. Proceeds from the event will support CCTA’s Scholarship Fund and Outreach Programs that make quality arts programming accessible to youth in under-resourced communities. “Toon Tunes and Cartoon Capers” by the Concert Artists of Baltimore

Concert Artists of Baltimore Family Fun Concert to Feature “Toon Tunes and Cartoon Capers” With Actor Tim Marrone and Conductor Edward Polochick
Arrive at 3:00 PM on June 9th, 2013, at the Gordon Center for Performing Arts, for a special musical “Petting Zoo.” The “Petting Zoo” will feature musical instruments and takes place before the 3:30 main show in the Gordon Center Lobby.
Concert Artists Family Fun Concert will feature actor Tim Marrone & Maestro Edward Polochick performing an audience interactive story about a cartoon character “Mr. No”.  “Mr. No” needs help, for he is truly lacking in self confidence and self esteem. The conductor, the orchestra, and the audience try to configure a way to coax “Mr. No” into the wonderful world of music. Hopefully the influence of the music will have the power to transform him into a strong, self assured individual.
