Can you retire at the ripe old age of 24? If you’re adorable, likeable and filthy rich, why not?
At least, that’s the world and logic according to Amanda Bynes, who recently Twittered the planet that she plans to give up acting because she’s sick and tired of show biz and Tinseltown. (Perhaps she was also disappointed that she didn’t get more mature roles after her sexy lingerie photo spread in last February’s issue of Maxim.)
“Being an actress isn’t as fun as it may seem,” wrote the shapely star of “She’s The Man” and “Hairspray.” “If I don’t love something anymore, I stop doing it. I don’t love acting anymore, so I’ve stopped doing it.
“I know 24 is a young age to retire but you heard it here first I’ve retired. … I’ve never written the movies & tv shows I’ve been a part of. I’ve only acted like the characters the producers or directors wanted me to play.”
For folks who are highly bummed by her announcement – which could very easily change by next week – there’s still the September release of “Easy A,” a flick in which Amanda plays a religious “Mean Girl” who hopes to save Emma Stone’s soul and get her expelled because she’s allegedly promiscuous.
Geez, with story lines like those, no wonder Amanda’s quitting show biz!
