Barbra Streisand
She’s Still Got It!
October 8, 2009
Babs has done it again. Barbra Streisand is once again at the top of the Billboard 200 charts with her new CD of jazz standards titled “Love Is The Answer.” (And no, that was not James Brolin you saw selling copies of the album out of his trunk at the corner of Falls Road and Cold Spring Lane.)
At a time when some might consider the 67-year-old Streisand’s music long out of favor, reaching the highest plateau is quite an accomplishment for the singer/actress/director. (It’s like buttah.) Consider the fact that in the number two position was the emo band Paramore and Mariah Carey came in third.
Meanwhile, the eternal “Funny Girl” recently drew raves for her recent performance at the Village Vanguard. It was Streisand’s first performance at the tiny jazz club in Greenwich Village since her salad days in 1961, and less than 100 “Barb-heads” won tickets in a lottery to attend. Among those there were Sarah Jessica Parker, George Clooney, Donna Karan and Meredith Vieira.
