Oy, the youngsters these days. First, they get engaged, then they get pregnant before reaching the chuppah! What a world, what world!
Bethenny Frankel, the natural foods chef, entrepreneur and one of the stars of Bravo’s “The Real Housewives of New York City,” recently got engaged to her boyfriend, Jason Hoppy, and is now pregnant with her first child, she told People.
The shapely Bethenny said she wanted to wait to break the news, but PerezHilton.com forced her hand.
“It’s premature to be telling people this,” a weepy Ms. Frankel, who is two months prego, told People. “It’s not like, `Did I get Botox?’ It’s not the way I wanted it to get out. I haven’t even gone through my first trimester. We haven’t even heard the heartbeat. [Mr. Hoppy’s] parents didn’t even know.”
Guess they do now.
Still, she said she and her hubby-to-be, whom she met 11 months ago at a club, are “both so excited. … I am praying everything is OK, but I don’t know that yet.”
And what about getting knocked up before noshing on wedding cake? “I’m no spring chicken,” said Ms. Frankel, daughter of thoroughbred racehorse trainer Robert Frankel. “I didn’t think it was going to happen right away. Because of my age, sometimes we weren’t totally careful. ... I got to be honest, we are both feeling kind of proud of ourselves. We are both 38 and we were like, `Listen, your fish can swim and I am fertile.’ So that’s exciting.” (Quite exciting, yes.)
Still, don’t worry, these are traditional folks – they plan to hit get hitched before actually going to the maternity ward. “Because of my age, it’s not like I was going to meet a boy, and then be engaged for a year and then be married for a year before we started trying [to have kids] ... I’d be 45,” she said
All in all, Ms. Frankel compares it to “the Triple Crown. I got engaged, we got pregnant and we’re gonna get married. It’s a miracle.”
And how does it feel to be pregnant? “I’m hungry in a way that is not negotiable,” she said. “I’m not eating a tremendous amount but if I am hungry, I will stab someone for food.”
Translation: keep away from this desperate housewife.
