Country singer Chely Wright recently tied the knot with Lauren Blitzer, an activist for gay, lesbian, bisexual and transgender issues.
The two married in Connecticut at the home of Lauren’s aunt. While Chely is a Christian vegetarian from Kansas, Lauren’s a Jewish carnivore from New York. A rabbi and priest reportedly presided over the ceremony.
Chely, 40, and Lauren, 30, met in the spring of 2010, just two weeks after Chely became the first mainstream country artist to publicly out herself. When New York passed the law to recognize same-sex marriages in April, they became engaged.
Both brides wore Jose Dias-designed white wedding gowns. “We had a great time!” Chely wrote on Twitter.
