Did David Copperfield make a woman’s sexual assault allegation against him disappear?
The 53-year-old master illusionist—born David Seth Kotkin in Metuchen, N.J.—was recently accused by a former Miss Washington pageant contestant of the charge. But the U.S. Attorney announced that the investigation against Mr. Copperfield was dropped.
According to the Seattle Times, the woman made a similar claim against another man recently, and police authorities said there was evidence that she gave false statements to a police officer and engaged in prostitution
The other man called the cops and said he was being extorted. According to documents, the woman was later reluctant to pursue that matter because “she was worried this case would tarnish the other case [against Mr. Copperfield].”
So much for that. Another case of magic gone wrong.
