Debra Messing and her husband of 10 years, Daniel Zelman, have parted company. Well, sorta.
The “Will & Grace” star’s rep said the decision was mutual and they split up earlier this year. “They remain supportive of one another and committed to raising their son as a family,” the rep said, referring to 7-year-old Roman.
Messing and Zelman still reportedly live together in New York City in a “very amicable” arrangement for Roman’s benefit.
Debra, 43, and Daniel, 44, an actor/writer/producer, met in grad school at New York University in the 1990s. “We were just classmates,” she told Redbook in 2007. “And then we did ` Romeo and Juliet’ together. That was my attempt to get him alone. And it worked.
“I’m not one to give out marriage advice,” Debra said. “Circumstance has so much to do with whether or not your relationship survives and evolves. Daniel and I are very different—he’s levelheaded, whereas I’m more the fiery, emotional one. … It’s sacrifice and compromise.”
Obviously she is one to give out marriage advice. Messing will be seen in NBC’s upcoming musical series “Smash.”
