Israel tends to bring out the romantic side of people. At least it did for “Slumdog Millionaire” co-stars Freida Pinto and Dev Patel.
Mr. Patel’s mom, Anita, recently confirmed to a British pub that the Indian actors are now a couple.
“First, it was the film, and now everything else seems to have slotted into place,” Mrs. Patel said. “Life can’t get any better for him. Freida is really beautiful, and I am really happy for them.”
The romance came to light after Mr. Patel, 19, flew off to the Jewish state for a date with the incredibly adorable Ms. Pinto, 24. “Yes, we knew he was flying to Israel to see her,” said Mrs. Patel.
Ms. Pinto is currently working in Israel filming “Miral,” in which she plays a Palestinian woman in the aftermath of the country’s founding. Onlookers in Tel Aviv said Ms. Pinto couldn’t keep her hands off Mr. Patel, and the two thrilled a group of Japanese tourists with their public displays of affection.
Ms. Pinto’s next role will be in a yet-to-be-titled Woody Allen flick.
