Among the musical luminaries who appear on Drake’s sophomore effort, “Take Care,” which comes out tomorrow, are Rick Ross, Stevie Wonder, Rihanna, Nicki Minaj and Lil Wayne.
But the 25-year-old stud rapper told Billboard that the artist he really wanted to snag most for the moody and mellow CD was Justin Timberlake.
“I mean, I really wanted to work with Justin Timberlake on this project,” says the Toronto-born Drake, 25 who was born Aubrey Drake Graham, “and we came so close, man, so close. He’s just super busy, and not in the music mindset right now as far as creating.”
Nonetheless, he feels that he and Timberlake will eventually make it into the studio. “He’s so immersed in the acting thing, and I don’t blame him, he’s doing great at it. He was just like, ‘I really want to work, I just can’t do it right now. But we’ll work as soon as I’m back in the studio.’
“So he gave me his word on that, so I’m looking forward to looking with him,” Drake said.
