In her current sitcom “Happily Divorced,” Flushing femme fatale Fran Drescher plays Fran (natch) Lovett, an L.A. florist re-familiarizing herself with the dating scene. Seems her husband of nearly 20 years, Peter, has decided he’s gay.
Of course, in real life Drescher, 54, was married to TV writer/director/producer Peter Marc Jacobson for more than two decades. They split up after he told her he was gay.
The show recently started its second season on TV Land. “We’re going to go deeper into Fran being a single, middle-aged woman and what that’s about … and we’re going to expose a part of my body in the premiere episode which has never been seen before,” Drescher told CNN.
When the reporter inquired about the aforementioned part, Fran laughed and simply said, “Well, should I tell you? It’s a little risqué.”
Drescher, who’s not currently dating, said her relationship with Jacobson, 54, today is quite stable. “We’re the best of friends. We’re in a wonderful place,” she said. “We’re business partners, we’re very close friends and you know we believe we’re soul mates. Let’s hope that you get more than one soul mate in life.”
Drescher also has a new children’s book out called “Being Wendy.”
“It’s about a little girl who lives in a very provincial town called Boxville, and everybody in Boxville thinks inside of the box and she just can’t do it,” she said. “Her interests are too diverse. At first, she’s ostracized for being that, but in the end her parents realize her specialness is unique and should be celebrated.”
