Even though she plays a tough-as-nails female Georgia police detective on “The Closer,” Kyra Sedgwick admits she still finds it hard being a gal in today’s world.
“Boys come out of the womb entitled because it’s a man’s world,” she said. “Women have a really hard time with it.”
For example, Ms. Sedgwick, 43, said she still struggles with asking producers for extra time off from her successful TV series.
“It was a hard thing to ask for, whereas if it was a man … it wouldn’t have been a big drama,” she said. “For me, it was, `Is this an OK thing to do? They all count on me, what are they going to do without me?’ It was all a little grandiose. But it was hard to ask for what I needed, but everyone benefits when the woman in the family gets what she needs.”
Indeed. Ms. Sedgwick said she tries to snag as much quality time as possible with her hunky husband, actor/musician Kevin Bacon, and their 17-year-old daughter, Sosie.
“I get to be home and spend the weekend with my daughter and husband – I need them!” Ms. Sedgwick said.
