Oscar buzz is already in the air for Hailee Steinfeld, the 14-year-old scene-stealer from the Coen brothers’ “True Grit.”
Hailee, the niece of fitness guru Jake Steinfeld, plays the film’s precocious heroine, Mattie Ross, and is getting raves. She received Best Supporting Actress nominations from the Broadcast Film Critics Association and the Screen Actors Guild Awards.
Insiders say Hailee could wind up in the Oscars’ Best Actress race, competing against the likes of established pros Natalie Portman, Annette Bening, Julianne Moore and Nicole Kidman. Not too shabby for a newcomer.
