And in the end, Ashley Hebert went for the nice Jewish boy, JP Rosenbaum, on Monday night’s two-hour finale of “The Bachelorette.” By giving JP the final rose, she officially parted ways with Ben Flajnik, a likeable Cali winemaker dude who poignantly proposed to her, to no avail.
“My relationship with JP is everything I’ve ever wanted in a marriage,” Ashley said of her 34-year-old fiancé, a construction manager who currently lives in Roslyn, N.Y. “We have this passion for each other, but we also have this magical, unspoken connection where it’s so easy and it feels like I’ve known him forever. He’s committed and he’s going to be a great family man. He is the total package for me.”
But 26-year-old Ashley’s tattooed elder sister, Chrystie Corns, expressed her disapproval, due to JP’s age and having never been married before. “I don’t think he’s the one,” Chrystie told Ashley before the big proposal. “What worries me is that I think you’re too much for him.” (She later apologized for her remarks and behavior.)
But JP remained confident and steadfast. Under his breath, he mumbled to Ashley, “I knew I was going to win—now put this GPS on your finger so I don’t get manically jealous when you’re hundreds of miles away from me,” he said.
Of Ashley, JP said, “When I’m with her, nothing else matters. I am just so, so in love with this girl. She’s the best thing that’s ever happened to me.”
Ashley and JP plan to move in together in New York City, after she finishes dental school next month. No wedding date has been set yet.
