Will Katie Couric leave her job as the CBS Evening News anchor once her contract expires?
“I’m not sure. I’m really excited about my future,” Couric, 54, recently told her former “Today” co-anchor, Matt Lauer. “I love my job. I’m trying to figure out what I’m going to do.”
Couric’s evasive statement comes as rumors are rife that both she and Lauer, 53, are leaving their posts.
“I don’t have any regrets,” Couric said. Being the first woman in American television history to anchor a network news program solo, she said, was “a privilege and an honor.”
But she insisted to Lauer, “I’m in the middle of figuring it out.”
Katie, who’s promoting a new book, said the same thing to Barbara Walters on “The View”: “I’m in the middle of a decision. I’m not in a position to discuss it at this point.”
Katie said she will make a final decision in the next couple of weeks. “I need to give the headlines back to Charlie Sheen,” she said.
