Those crazy Israeli cousins of ours. They’ve always got something up their sleeves.
Recently, the Israeli tourism ministry appealed to Justin Bieber, Lady Gaga and Russian opera conductor Valery Gergiev, as well as other entertainment field notables, in a bid to promote the Dead Sea in the “New Seven Wonders of the World” competition.
The tourism campaign is designed to boost Israel’s international standing and tourism industry, while promoting the rapidly drying lake’s power of attraction, according to Ynet.
The plan was to get celebs from all over the world to participate in a one-minute YouTube clip to call on fans to vote for the Dead Sea, the lowest place on earth.
Alas, it seems Bieber and Gergiev turned down the offer, and Gaga never even responded. But the stars of the popular Argentinean soap opera “Casi Ángeles” will participate (in exchange for hundreds of thousands of shekels).
