Remember Mayim Bialik, aka Blossom Russo of TV’s ultra-saccharine “Blossom” (1991-1995)? Now 33 and the mother of two young boys, Ms. Bialik recently resurfaced on the season premiere of TLC’s “What Not To Wear.”
Ms. Bialik, who first made her mark playing a younger version of Bette Midler in 1988’s “Beaches,” is for the most part retired from show biz these days (she earned a Ph.D. in neuroscience from UCLA, so this former child star’s not too shabby in the brains department). She did, however, appear recently on Larry David’s “Curb Your Enthusiasm” and on “Bones.”
On “What Not To Wear,” Ms. Bialik—once a paragon of late ‘80s/early ‘90s fashion—was a good sport about her less-than-gorgeous wardrobe and even performed a little dance (as a means of begging stars Stacy London and Clinton Kelly to let her keep her purple cardigan from “Curb”). She was the show’s first celebrity fashion fatality, and one of the first articles of clothing to go was a blouse worn by the actress on “Blossom.”
Ah, if Joey Lawrence could only see her now.
