Mel Gibson
Legal Weapons
April 24, 2009
Word that Mel Gibson’s wife of more than 28 years, Robyn Moore, recently filed for divorce from the Academy Award-winning director/actor caused no dismay or tears in the Jewish community. After all, neither his film “The Passion of the Christ” nor his anti-Semitic tirade (to arresting officer James Mee) after being arrested for drunk driving won Mel any friends in the Jewish world.
What will be interesting – and arguably entertaining – is to watch the settlement war between the Gibsons. Mel is believed to be worth around $900 million, and the couple did not have a pre-nup. To boot, the missus is seeking joint custody of their son, Tom, the only minor of their seven children.
In her divorce bid, Mrs. G. has hired a nice Jewish lawyer named Laura Wasser (Melster, remember that old saying about paybacks?) Meanwhile, the “Braveheart” star doesn’t dislike Hebraic folks so much that he didn’t hire one himself for legal counsel, Robert Kaufman, divorce attorney for Jennifer Aniston and Jessica Simpson.
Get some popcorn, folks, this is gonna be interesting.
