For his stunning work in that infamous elevator scene with Glenn Close in the 1987 thriller ‘Fatal Attraction,’ Michael Douglas should get a special award.
But instead, the folks at the American Film Institute recently decided to give Mr. Douglas, 66, its 37th annual AFI Lifetime Achievement Award for the actor/producer’s entire body of work, instead of just that one lusty scene.
Among those in attendance to honor Mr. Douglas were his ‘Basic Instinct’ co-star Sharon Stone, Warren Beatty, Annette Benning, Hugh Hefner, Tobey Maguire, Jane Seymour, Melanie Griffiths, Kathleen Turner, Kiefer Sutherland, Jack Nicholson and Issur Danielovich, otherwise known as Michaelís 92-year-old dad, screen legend Kirk Douglas.
Among the performers at the gala were Mr. Douglas’s gorgeous Welsh-born wife, Catherine Zeta Jones (mother of Dylan and Carys Douglas ), who did a dance from “Chicago,” and the one-and-only Bob Dylan.
