Michael Douglas
Traffic Jam
August 14, 2009For the first time, actor/producer Michael Douglas, star of such films at “Wall Street,” “Basic Instinct” and (yes) “Traffic,” spoke publicly recently about his son, Cameron Douglas, who is now incarcerated on drug trafficking charges.
”The family is devastated and very disappointed in Cameron’s recent behavior,” read a statement released by the 64-year-old actor’s spokesman. “Any family who has dealt with substance abuse knows how devastating it can be.”
Cameron Douglas, 30, is an actor who appeared in the 2003 film “It Runs In the Family” with his dad, his grandfather, screen legend Kirk Douglas, and his grandma, Diana Dill.
Cameron is being held at New York’s Metropolitan Correctional Center after violating the terms of his home detention. He allegedly asked his girlfriend, Kelly Sott, to bring him an electric toothbrush with heroin hidden in it.
He was arrested on charges of distributing crystal meth, and faces a mandatory minimum of 10 years in prison if convicted and could face life in the slammer.
