Mila Kunis has come a long way since her days on “That ‘70s Show.” She is now starring with Denzel Washington and Gary Oldman in new film “The Book of Eli.”
Of working with Mr. Washington, Ms. Kunis gushed, “It’s fantastic. He is brilliant to watch and brilliant to learn from, and everything you would ever want out of somebody. He’s focused. He comes to work prepared. He does his homework. … I look at Denzel as somebody I respect and somebody who I think is a brilliant actor. I don’t look at him like, `Oh my God, it’s Denzel Washington!’ I look at it like, `Here’s this guy I’m going to learn from.’”
And Mr. Oldman? He’s funny,” she said. “He’s an incredibly funny, brilliant man.”
So you don’t see the 23-year-old, Ukrainian-born actress’s name in the tabloids much despite her long relationship with Macaulay “Home Alone” Culkin. Why is that?
“I keep my personal life as personal as I physically, mentally, possibly can,” she said. “I will go to my grave trying. It is hard, but I’ll end up going to a bar that’s a hole in the wall. I won’t go to the `it’s-happening’ place. ... If I do screw up, I’m not going to be ashamed of it. I’m not perfect. Nobody’s perfect. And I’m not a role model, I’m not that person. I don’t aspire to be someone I’m not. I’m going to stay very true, very honest to who I am.
“And if somebody catches me doing something that they disapprove of, that’s their issue. I will try everything I possibly can not to give them that ammo, don’t get me wrong.”
Sounds like she’s given this a lot of thought.
