By now, you’ve likely heard that Natalie Portman and fiancé Benjamin Millepied have named their recently-born son Aleph.
Aleph, of course, is the first letter of the Hebrew alphabet and relates, kabbalistically speaking, to the origins of the universe and other divine sources.
That’s all well and good, but you’ve got to wonder what “Batalie” was thinking. After all, Gimmel has a nice ring to it. Nun would be nifty. You wouldn’t diss Dalet, and who wouldn’t want to say, “Hey, Hay!” (“What’s Happening?” allusion intended.)
Most of all, you’ve got to wonder what the Jerusalem-born actress and her hubby-to-be were thinking. Aleph Millepied?
