Paul Anka

Israelis tend to like to do things their way. So it only makes sense that the guy who wrote the classic tune “My Way” would wind up in Israel.
Yes, it’s true, Paul Anka is scheduled to perform in Israel this summer, music industry sources told the Israeli periodical Yedioth Ahronot. Mr. Anka, 68, will reportedly hold at least one concert at Tel Aviv’s Mann Auditorium in August.
A Canadian of Lebanese extraction, Mr. Anka became famous in the late ‘50s as a teen idol with such bubblegum hits as “Put Your Head On My Shoulder,” “Puppy Love” and “Lonely Boy.” He made a bit of a mid-‘70s, mid-life comeback with such saccharine smashes as “Your Having My Baby” and “Times Of Your Life” until being forever relegated to Vegas and Branson.
In other music industry news involving the Jewish state, word has it that negotiations have been going on between Israeli producers and pop icon and adoption maven Madonna. Sources say there is a good chance that the singer will be coming to Israel this summer or possibly at the beginning of September.
