In her new film “Monogamy” (co-starring Rashida Jones and Chris Messina), Israeli actress Meital Dohan, 33, takes a look at relationships in the 21st century.
“Monogamy” was recently picked as Best New York Narrative at the Tribeca Film Festival. It’s a mystery-thriller drama about a Brooklyn wedding photographer, his relationship with his fiancée and his side business that involves a mystery woman (namely, Ms. Dohan).
“It’s a great film,” she said. “It’s a great script and the character is fascinating so it was a great project to work on. Her behavior is kind of extreme and it’s kind of challenging for the audience to see why she’s behaving like that and understand her motives.
“`Monogamy’ is about the difficulties of maintaining monogamous relationships in a world that has the Internet and in an urban society with so many temptations.”
A peace activist, Ms. Dohan is also passionate about her work with Artists4Israel, a non-profit fighting terrorism with graffiti art.
“I was very intrigued about this cause and what they are doing for Israel with art rather than force,” she said. “I think that art has power. Graffiti artists got together, and some of them don’t have any direct relationship to Israel, but they all found it an important cause. They painted shelters in cities that had been bombed many times. It’s very powerful.”
