Among the rug-cutters on the upcoming 13th season of “Dancing With The Stars” will be actress/talk show host Ricki Lake and actor David Arquette.
They will be joined by trangender advocate/celebrity curiosity Chaz Bono, actress/TV personality Kristin Cavallari, legal analyst Nancy Grace and soccer star Hope Solo, ABC recently announced.
Also joining the fleet-footed lineup will be George Clooney’s ex-Italian babe, Elisabetta Canalis, NBA star Ron Artest, singer Chynna Phillips, reality star Rob Kardashian, “Queer Eye’s” Carson Kressley, and soap star J.R. Martinez.
“Doing this show is an opportunity for me to reach a larger more mainstream audience with just a simple message of being transgender is OK and not something to be scared of,” Bono, the show’s first transgender dancer, told People.
In announcing the contestants, “DWTS” co-host Brooke Burke referred to Arquette as “king of the big screen.” (What’s Brooke smokin’?)
“I love to dance and I love to entertain, and there’s no place better than this show to do that,” Arquette said. “I’m really looking for positive things in my life, and dancing makes me happy. ... I’m not joking!”
The contestants will hit the floor Sept. 19 on “DWTS’s” live season premiere.
