She may have been out on the prairie for an awfully long time, but Melissa Gilbert says she always knew that her little sister and fellow actress, Sara Gilbert, was gay.
When pushed on the topic recently on “The Talk” by co-host Sharon Osbourne, Melissa, 47, says she wasn’t in the woods about Sara’s alternative ways at all.
“You know what, I’ll put it to you this way,” Melissa said. “I took her to dinner when she was in her teens and I sat her down and I gave her this long speech about how much I love you and it doesn’t matter and you’re my darling and blah, blah, blah and you can tell me anything. And she looked at me and she said, `I’m not gay.’ And I was like, `OK, whatever.’”
While Melissa was fine with the question, Sara, 36, who is executive producer of “The Talk” and came out in 2010, was less than comfortable as the audience laughed and applauded. “Don’t we have a break coming up?” she asked, sweating.
