Are Jerry Seinfeld, Jason Alexander and Larry David to blame for the horrific choice of middle name given to the newest child of soccer phenom David Beckham and his dishy Spice Girl wife, Victoria Posh?
Some feel the reason for the unusual, numerically-oriented name of the Beckhams’ latest arrival – baby gal Harper Seven Beckham—may be that infamous episode of “Seinfeld” (episode 123, aired Feb. 1, 1996) in which George insists on bestowing the name of Seven upon his unborn child (out of respect to Mickey Mantle). You’ll recall that his fiancée Susan’s cousins snatch the name, much to George’s dismay and outrage.
So pray tell, did the Beckhams fall victim to the “Seinfeld Curse”? Well, their other kids are named Brooklyn, Romeo and Cruz, so they obviously have a penchant for the unconventional. Harper’s, well, OK but Seven?
Of course, we must remember that upon birth at L.A.‘s Cedars-Sinai Medical Center, Harper weighed 7 pounds (and 10 ounces) in the seventh hour in the seventh month on the seventh day of the week. And seven was Beckham’s jersey number for Manchester United and the English national team.
But was there a “Seinfeld” influence? Don’t worry, we’ll keep on it, folks.
