Seder Fun

Passover begins Saturday night. Want to make your Seder more fun than ever? Here are some tips:
• Make a basket of questions and answers about the Seder. At various points in the Seder, pull a question and allow the kids to answer it. Be sure to have a bag of little treats or prizes for the kids who get it right.
• Keep a large pile of blocks next to the table. When you get to the part about the Jews building pyramids in Egypt, have the children get down and build one of their own.
• Put the names of Haggadah characters in a bag (Moses, Aaron, Miriam, Pharaoh, etc.). At various points during the Seder draw a name from the bag. Give the children a chance to ask yes/no questions. Whoever gets it right gets a prize.
• Before the Seder, have your children make their own plague bags (as opposed to buying them in the store). When it comes to reciting the 10 plagues, let them show off their work.
• Pick out family-friendly haggadot. It’s great for the adults to have lots of commentary, quickest to use Maxwell House, but make sure you have some brightly colored ones with games and other fun things to read.
