The analysis offered in “ZAP! POW! BAM!” (Jan. 25) is mistaken. Incontrovertibly, Superman is Christian, not Jewish. A father sends his only-begotten son to Earth, where he devotes his life to saving humankind from evil. Sound familiar? The salient argument offered as proof that Superman is Jewish is that his “Kryptonian name is Kal-El, which loosely translated from Hebrew means ‘God Is Everything.’” Dictionary.com defines the word everything as “every, thing or particular of an aggregate or total.” “Aggregate” refers to a “sum, mass or assemblage,” according to that same reference source.
What could the sum/mass/assemblage referred to in the phrase “God is Everything” signify but the Trinity?
