Photos: Sinai Breaks Children’s Hospital Ground

Community leaders and Sinai Hospital staff were on hand on December 3, 2009 for the groundbreaking to expand the Herman & Walter Samuelson Children’s Hospital.

With a lead gift of $4 million naming the Children’s Hospital in 2007, a total of more than $17 million—including $5 million from the State of Maryland—has been received in commitments so far.

This groundbreaking event celebrated a new wing and associated upgrades and changes that will enhance the quality and efficiency of care, including all private rooms and family sleeping areas. These additions, according to Sinai officials, “support the very heart of a family-centered care program where the family is recognized as the constant in a child’s life.”
