Combine margarine, sugar and molasses. Add egg and beat until smooth and thick. Add remaining ingredients and blend. Cover and chill for 2 hours or as much as overnight.
Preheat oven to 350 degrees. Form chilled dough into balls, using about 1 tablespoon of dough. Dip each in sugar, coating only 1 side and place, sugar-side-up, 2 inches apart on foil-lined or silicone baking sheets.
Bake 10 to 12 minutes until medium golden brown. Remove from oven and let cool about 2 minutes on baking sheets. Remove to wire cooling racks to cool completely.
Makes about 3 dozen.
