Lollipop Cookies

Ingredients

1/2 cup butter or margarine, softened
1 egg yolk
2 teaspoons vanilla
1 1/4 cups flour
1 teaspoon baking powder
1/4 teaspoon salt
1 cup sifted powdered sugar
18 wooden craft sticks
Assorted 4 1/2 oz. tubes decorating frosting
Assorted candies and sprinkles


Directions

Combine first 3 ingredients in a large mixing bowl.  Beat at medium speed with electric mixer until blended. Set aside.  Combine flour and next 3 ingredients. Add gradually to butter mixture, beating well after each addition. Shape dough into 1-inch balls and place on ungreased baking sheets. Dip a flat bottom glass in granulated sugar and use to flatten each ball. Insert wooden stick into each to resemble lollipop. Bake at 350 degrees for 11 to 12 minutes. Cool completely on baking sheets. Remove carefully.  Decorate cooled cookies as desired. Yields 18.
