In a large pot, combine all ingredients without salmon loaf. Bring to a boil over high heat and boil, covered, for 15 minutes. Remove onions and discard. Do not defrost salmon loaf. Add Salmon Gefilte Loaf with paper wrapping and return to a boil. Reduce heat to medium and partially cover pot. Continue to simmer 45 minutes to an hour, turning occasionally. Remove salmon loaf and spices from pot, refrigerate until cold. Remove paper and place on a platter, top with reserved spices. Slice thinly and serve with lemon slices to garnish.

6 bay leaves
2 tablespoons pickling spices

2 small onions, quartered
4 tablespoons lemon juice
