In a 10-inch glass pie plate or a shallow fluted quiche pan, spread the cream cheese over bottom and up sides to form a “crust.” Pour over the pizza sauce. Layer the remaining ingredients in order as listed. Bake in a 350- to 375-degree oven for about 25 minutes or until bubbly hot and just barely beginning to brown. Let sit for 5 to 10 minutes before serving. Serve in a large shallow basket that has a trivet in the center and surround with chips. (“Dipping” or “scoop” ones are great). Serves 10 to 12.

Ingredients
8-ounce package regular cream cheese, room temperature
1 can (15 ounces) of your favorite pizza sauce
1/2 bag frozen chopped onions, defrosted and drained, or 1/2 cup fresh chopped onion
1 small can chopped black olives or stems and pieces mushrooms, well drained (or any pizza topping your family loves)
1 1/2 cups shredded pizza cheese (I like a finer shred best)
Plain flavored scoop-style corn chips
