On April 11, Leonora Pekarsky (née Videlgauz) of Baltimore at age 64. She was born March 16 in Belarus. She received a bachelor’s degree in elementary education from Grodno State University in Belarus. She loved working with children. In 1977, she married Gene Pekarsky and they came to the U.S. in 1981. She went to beauty school and became a manicurist, and was an active member of the Russian Jewish community. But mostly, she devoted her life to her husband Gene and daughters Julia and Rachel. She loved being a grandmother to her two grandchildren Zachary and Ariana Schneider. She enjoyed cooking, dancing, music, Russian movies and shows, and the theatre. She spent the last four years in Northern Virginia where she bravely battled younger onset Alzheimer’s. She was known for her constant walking around the nursing home, always offering hugs and joy. She will be terribly missed by all who knew her.
She is survived by husband Gene Pekarsky and daughters Julia Pekarsky (Gabe Schneider) and Rachel Pekarsky (Bob Thomas).
