On Sept. 28, Phyllis (Vogel) Cavalier. She was the daughter of the late “Pop Pop” Lou and “Nana” Ethel Vogel. The “eternal love” of the late Melvin Cavalier, her husband of 54 years, and big sister to Sheldon Vogel, her best friend. She is survived by children Mindy and Michael Per and Calvin Howard Cavalier; grandchildren Zachary Aaron Per, Alexander David Per and Alexandra (Smolen) Per; nieces and nephews Judith and Frederick Schott, Mark and Amy Cavalier, Robin and Dennis Andrews, Terri Chochos and Toni Vogel; and extended family Artie Snow, Rosalyn Haller, Marian Block, Allen Cohen, Penny and Gregg Patrick, Steven and Alyssa Patrick, Emily and Cassie Ruggiero and Ryan Patrick. A special shoutout to her mahjong girls and caregivers. She graduated Forest Park High School and obtained the highest career a woman in 1940 could hold, a secretary. A position she excelled at, working for the late Sen. O’Conner in Washington, D.C. It was on that daily train to D.C. where she met Melvin Cavalier. After marriage, her life was dedicated to being a wife, a mother and, eventually, a grandmother.
