Lithuania’s anti-Semitic history

Thia Steinhardt states that one of the things that she learned was that, “Lithuania was considered basically a safe haven for Jews” (“You Should Know … Thia Steinhardt,” Nov. 27). That statement is totally incorrect. She should read the book, “Our People: Discovering Lithuania’s Hidden Holocaust,” written by Ruta Vanagaite, whose family played a role in the mass murder of Jews, and Efraim Zuroff, whose family from Lithuania were killed by Lithuanians. Zuroff’s father and grandparents on his father’s side were from Baltimore.
