Baltimore Child Abuse Center Throws 4th Annual ‘Be A Hero’ Gala

The Baltimore Child Abuse Center will host its fourth annual “Be A Hero” fundraiser at the Lord Baltimore Hotel on April 28.

Tickets for the main event are already sold out, but the $100 after-party tickets are still available. The after-party will take place in the hotel’s LB Speakeasy with live entertainment, open bar and signature desserts.

“It’s a great event,” said executive director Adam Rosenberg. “We’ve built the right combination of an important message and fun.”

This year, the center is hoping to pass the $1 million mark in cumulative money raised from all the “Be A Hero” fundraisers. The main event starts at 7 p.m. and features not only a major silent auction — people who can’t attend the gala or after-party can also bid online — as well as a live one. The event will also honor those who work with abused children, Rosenberg said.

The Baltimore Child Abuse Center is a nonprofit organization providing child victims of abuse, violence, trafficking or other trauma with services such as medical exams, therapy, social worker access and advocacy. The goal is to minimize additional trauma, Rosenberg said, and having all of these services available at one facility is much easier on a vulnerable child.

“We can’t do this by ourselves,” he said. “We need the money to protect these children.”
