On Oct. 10, Dr. Richard Berkowitz, formerly of Owings Mills, at 87. He is
survived by wife of 64 years Barbara Berkowitz; children Steven Berkowitz and Michael Berkowitz; daughters-in-law Neill Epperson and Hillary Kunins; brother David Berkowitz; and grandchildren Rachel Berkowitz, Lily Berkowitz and Livia Kunins-Berkowitz. He practiced obstetrics and gynecology in Baltimore, his adopted city, for 45 years until his retirement in 2002. He began his career as a resident at Sinai Hospital and ended it teaching medical students at Mercy Hospital. He was known for his kindness to everyone he met. He enjoyed a deeply rewarding life filled with family, sports and friends. He loved to travel with his wife Barbara and brought his family along whenever possible. He believed that education and family were the key to living a fulfilled life; a belief that he modeled on a daily basis.
