Katherine Bunny Dachs believes that every older adult deserves respect and dignity regardless of their level of independence.
The owner of Bunny’s Home Care in Baltimore has cultivated a team of 100 dedicated caretakers who are sensitive and passionate about helping loved ones and providing them with the utmost in senior care and companionship.
Dachs started in health care at age 16, working in her father’s pharmacy. She went on to earn a bachelor of science in health care administration and a master’s in business administration with a focus on health care.
For 14 years, she ran systems, both in corporate and nonprofit settings. This, along with her love and appreciation for the older adult population, propelled her to launch Bunny’s Home Care in 2019.
“I got to admire aging in place and everything about helping seniors age in place. I decided I wanted to open up my own home care company,” Dachs said.
She hires caregivers who are highly skilled and stay current in their field. They are encouraged and supported so they can provide confident, capable and dedicated care to clients.
The caregivers help with the activities of daily living that can help seniors stay in the home longer and stay out of assisted living and nursing homes.
“We help them bathe, dress, go to the bathroom and assist in transfers. We also help people who are more independent by taking them shopping and on errands and to doctor’s appointments,” she said.
All care plans are overseen by an on-staff registered nurse. The nurse performs a detailed assessment of the client’s needs and personality and then handpicks the appropriate caregiver.
The agency is fully licensed and insured for the clients’ safety and peace of mind.
Bunny’s Home Care provides 24-hour phone service.
“Our main goal is to help people stay at home and live independently as much as they can,” Dachs said.
