On Aug. 16, Boris Shafir of Pikesville at 86. He is survived by wife Tsiliya Shafir (née Kukuevitskaya); son Slava (Alia) Shafir; and grandchildren Maxim Shafir, Roman Shafir and Nikolai Shafir.

He was predeceased by parents Sara and Moisey Shafir. Boris was an amazing husband, father and grandfather, and an internationally recognized table tennis coach. He will be dearly missed.
