On May 18, Dr. Paul “Pace” Bormel of Catonsville at 90. He is survived by wife Margaret Lee Bormel (née Early); sons Christopher and Raymond; sisters Gertrude Magid and Ida Pats; and many nieces, nephews, great-nieces and great-nephews. He was predeceased by siblings Joseph Bormel, Estelle Greenstein, Jeanette Goldstein, Lena Cotel, Bernard Bormel, Isaac Bormel, Albert Bormel, Rose Baumel, Betsy Wilder and Nathan Bormel and parents Harry and Anna Bormel. He was born and raised in Baltimore, attending the Talmudical Academy through high school. He went on to graduate from the University of Maryland and completed his residency at the University of Maryland Medical Center. He also enlisted in the Army and obtained the rank of captain serving overseas in France. He worked as a surgeon at St. Agnes Hospital and had his own private urology practice. He met his wife, Margaret Lee, while working at St. Agnes in 1977. The two married in October of 1997, the same year he retired from practicing medicine.
