How wonderful to read your editorial, “A Seat at the New Year’s Table” (Aug. 23) and to know that now other Jewish organizations are following in the footsteps of The Reform Temple, offering welcoming places to join together in prayer for Rosh Hashanah. Because classical Reform Judaism is no longer available at any synagogue at any price, TheReform Temple provides an accessible, meaningful prayer service that was adapted from the original Union Prayer Book. There is no charge to attend.
Originally, our idea was to ensure the continuation of classical Reform Jewish worship. To our surprise, during the past 14 years at Pikesville Senior High, we discovered that there were many different kinds of needs in our community. Some were financial, but mostly people wanted to finally be able to read and understand Jewish prayers. Our English language service is open to all who want to join in prayer and discover both the beauty and relevance of our worship — for Rosh Hashanah, which passed, and for Yom Kippur.
